Super Eagles of Nigeria Stadium
The Abuja National Stadium is a multi-use national sports ground that is located in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nigeria. The arena serves as a home ground for the Nigerian national football team - Super Eagles. The team uses the stadium for their local tournaments, training and club competitions taking place in Abuja.
The construction of the stadium commenced in the year 2000 following the approval of the federal government of Nigeria awarded on the 8th July 2000. The construction was completed in April 2003 to host the 8th edition of All-Africa Games which took place in October 2003.
It is designed to accommodate the estimated number of 60,491 spectators at a time with all the facilities built to meet international standard and the requirements of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
The stadium features 36 towers that support the upper tiers and the roof of the building; other features include corporate suites with viewing terrace, two overlapping spectator tiers and a presidential lounge that can accommodate up to 50 guests.
It is been arranged below a public space serving as spectators' distribution level with first aid stations, several kiosks, banks and toilet buildings.
The stadium serves many other purposes such as a venue for other religious events, cultural shows and different kinds of social events.
